Apply In-Person
- To apply for an operating license as a water or sanitation provider in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO), for the main office visit link.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council (NWASCO) office.
- Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
- Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
- Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
- After the completion and verification of all the required documents, the license will be accessible.
- Upon completion of above steps the applicant gets the license in a stipulated period of time.

- The size of the provider in terms of number of domestic connections or population served should be more than 50 households or 500 people.

- Fee: Pay the fee as per the authority request.

- This licence is valid for 10 years.

- The license will be cancelled if provider is caught guilty of one of the following:
- Giving false information.
- Transferring license without approval.
- Failing to comply with an enforcement notice.
- Failing to comply with provisions of the WSS(Water Supply and Sanitation) Act or license conditions.
- Failing to provide WSS(Water Supply and Sanitation) service according to SLG(Service Level Guarantee)
