  1. Gather all the documents you will need to present or submit in order to obtain/extend a Study Visa/Permit.
  2. Complete an application form.
  3. Submit all the required documents.
  4. Pay the Study Visa/Permit fee.

  • Completed Application Form 20
  • Two recent passport size photographs
  • Police clearance from applicant\'s country of permanent residence. This applies to applicants who are applying from outside Zambia and are 18 years and above
  • Supporting documents:
    • Photocopies of current passport;
    • Letter of acceptance from the Institution/school;
    • Status of the host, parent or guardian if any;
    • Chest X-Ray report
    • A cover letter addressed to the Chief Immigration Officer

Study visas/permits are issued to Non-Zambians who wishes to study in Zambia.

Applicants who are not resident in Zambia must submit their applications while outside the country.

  • Issuance: K1,500.00
  • Renewal: K2,000.00
  • Duplicate: K1,500.00

Applications should be lodged with the Head Office of Zambia Immigration Lusaka.

A Study Permit is granted to a foreign national who intends to study at a recognized learning institution in Zambia.

Recognized learning institutions are those that are registered with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Zambia's Immigration Departments Immigration Policy is based on these following four principles:

  • An Immigrant to Zambia must have a contribution to make in form of skills, profession or capital.
  • An Immigrant should not deprive a Zambian of employment;
  • An Immigrant should not be a charge on the state.
  • An Immigrant intending to settle in Zambia must be in possession of a permit.
