Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a study visa for Zambia, the agent of the applicant will have to visit the department of immigration, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. The person applying on behalf of the student should present themselves at the immigration office and an application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the department of immigration.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. After the completion and verification of all the documents, the visa will be accessible.
  8. Collect the visa from the office or wait for the visa to arrive via post on the postal address in a stipulated time.


Apply-Online

  1. Visit the following online registration portal.
  2. Login if you already have an account or register yourself.
  3. Provide the details asked like name, email and passport number.
  4. Choose “Type of Representative” from the drop down menu provided.
  5. Click on the “register” button.
  6. Go to the login portal again and login with your username and password.
  7. After you have successfully logged into the system with your account credentials, click “My Profile” to access your personal profile information.
  8. Data form will display and the information will be organized in 3 tabs: Identity, Address, Contact.
  9. Fill in all the appropriate details and after you have finished click the “Save” button to save the information.
  10. Open the “Contact” tab and provide your up-to-date contact information, so that the Immigration Department could reach you for questions and notices. Otherwise, you may miss some important information. Click “Save” after you have finished.
  11. Now, go to “My Workplace” you will see links under “Available Permits” for various permits.
  12. Select “student visa” service from the permits list present in the menu.
  13. Click “Next” and complete the application that consists of a form for a student visa and again click “Next”.
  14. Review the application requirements, scan and upload the required documents, click “Next”.
  15. Preview the completed application form as a PDF file (you can print or save it for your records).
  16. If all information is correct, click “Confirm” and preview the system-generated Electronic Bill (you can print or save it for your records).
  17. If you accept the fees and have your credit card ready, click on the “Pay Online” button. and you will be redirected to the bank site for secure payment processing.
  18. Enter your billing details, click “Next “and then click the “Pay” button.
  19. Upon completion of payment, you will be returned to the Payment Receipt page.
  20. Review your payment confirmation message, print or download Payment Receipt in PDF format, for your records.
  21. To complete the application process, click on the “Finish” button. You will see the number of the application case you have submitted.
  22. Your application can be tracked after logging in and going to the “submitted” section.
  23. Wait for approval of your application.
  24. When your application is approved, wait for authorities action.
  25. Collect your document according to the authorities suggestion.

  • Covering letter from applicant addressed to the Director General of Immigration/Regional Immigration Officer
  • Certified copy of valid passport (bio data & last endorsement stamp for Zambia)
  • Letter of acceptance from the educational institution
  • Letter from sponsor (e.g. institution, host, parent, guardian, applicant, if self-reliant etc.) supporting the application
  • Proof of status of sponsor (whether a national or a permit holder)
  • Financial status of sponsor
  • Prescribed fee receipt


Requirement for variation by Change of School

  • Covering letter from the applicant addressed to the Director General of Immigration
  • Acceptance letter from new school
  • Latest results transcript / progress report from previous school
  • Prescribed fee receipt

  • Make sure to check the status of your application if you have applied through the online portal given here portal.
  • Children and dependants of holders of permits should apply for Study Permits in order to study at an educational institution in Zambia for a period longer than three months unless the children or dependants in their own right hold Residence Permits, in which case they should ensure that the occupation on their Residence Permits reads “student”.
