Zambia - Obtain a Practicing Certificate (Register as Doctor)

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a practicing (as a doctor) license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Health Professions Council office of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The application form can be obtained from any nearest office of the Health Professions Council.
- A person who holds a qualification from a training institution recognised by the Council, or a holder of a temporary certificate of registration, may apply for provisional registration.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the Zambia Medicine Authority office.
- Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
- Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
- Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
- After the completion and verification of all the required documents, the certificate will be accessible.
- Upon completion of above steps, the certificate of practicing will be granted or rejected within 30 days.

- A health practitioner who practises during any period in which the health practitioner's practising certificate is void commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding seven hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven years, or to both.
