Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a product certification in Zambia, the applicant has to visit the Zambia Bureau of Standards, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Fill the application form provided in the Zambia Bureau of Standards office after understanding the following guidelines properly guidelines.
  4. All certified food products with nutrition and health claims must be supported by sound and sufficient evidence consistent with the following: i) Zambia Medicines and Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) product guidelines for claims on supplements, ii) The Food and Drug Acts.
  5. Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. Once the applicable fee is paid, factory inspections and product testing will be conducted, and a report will be generated for decision making.
  8. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, a provisional certificate will be accessible.
  9. The applicant gets the certificate in a stipulated period of time.

EligibilityEdit

The products can be:

  • Food and Beverages- Peanut Butter, Cooking Oil, Drinks Bottled Water.
  • Soaps and Detergents – Laundry Soaps, Washing powders, Hand Sanitizers & Cleaning Chemicals.
  • Construction Materials – Deformed Bars, Cement, Concrete Products & Electrical Cables.
  • Textile & Paints – Packaging Materials, Footwear, Paints, Varnishes and Inks.
  • Petroleum Products – Lubricants and fuels.
  • Agriculture Products – Animal feeds and many more.



FeesEdit

  • Up to 100: 0.5% of ex-factory income with minimum of K 1666.80.
  • 101-500: 0.075% of ex-factory income.
  • Greater than 500: 0.05% of ex-factory income.
  • Inspection fee: K 1,416.60.



ValidityEdit

  • The certification license will be valid for a period of three (3) years after which the manufacturer will have to reapply for certification.
