Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a private pilot license(PPL) in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Zambia Civil Aviation Authority, for the main office visit link.
- Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Fill the application form provided to you in the office after understanding the guidelines properly.
- The license requirements are determined by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the minimum required hours for one to hold a PPL is 45.
- Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
- Approved applicants will be required to take an exam to prove the skills required for a pilot.
- The appointment of the exam can be booked on the following portal with an email address portal.
- The exam will be conducted by the aviation authority and the passing of the test is necessary to get the license.
- When the exam is conducted successfully, you will be eligible for the license.
- Pay as per the details given in the “Fees” section of this page.
- The applicant gets the license in a stipulated period of time.

- Passport(if non-Zambian).
- Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with Credits in Five (5) subjects, which include Physics/Physical Science, Geography, Mathematics, and English language.
- Prove of being medically fit by a qualified Aviation medical Doctor.
- Proof of minimum 6 month of training for license.

EligibilityEdit
- The minimum age of the applicant should be 17 years and there is no maximum age.
- The applicants must be trained in an institution recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority or trained in the premise of the Civil Aviation authority itself.
FeesEdit
- License Fee: K 1400.
- Training fee(if applicable): K80,000.
ValidityEdit
- The validation shall be subject to the flight crew member satisfactorily passing written aviation law examination within a grace period of three (3) months from the date of validation in which case if the aviation law examination is not attempted or it is failed, the validation will be cancelled.
