Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a hazardous waste license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Environmental management agency of Zambia, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. Fill the application form provided to you in the office after understanding the guidelines properly, download the form from the following form link.
  4. Submit the application with necessary attachments to the office.
  5. ZEMA receives and analyses the application package.
  6. Authorities from ZEMA visit the facility and inspect for standards and other requirements that are being followed.
  7. After inspection if the authorities are satisfied with the standards that are followed a quotation or invoice for license will be provided to the applicant.
  8. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  9. The applicant gets the license in around 30 days.

  • Application letter to Zambia Environment Management Authority.
  • Decision Letter.
  • Qualifications proof of the person responsible for hazardous waste licence, compliance with the Act and the conditions of the licence.
  • Emergency preparedness and Response plan.
  • Policy, procedures and plans for technical capacity facilities and governance structures.
  • Proof of qualifications of hazardous waste management compliance office.
  • Proof of consultations with residents in the area surrounding the proposed licence area.

EligibilityEdit

  • The license will be provided if at least one of the following is satisfied:
  • Suspension is necessary to prevent or mitigate an imminent risk of significant adverse effects to the environment or to human health occurring.
  • Require the applicant to take specific measures to prevent or abate any adverse effect.

  • Application fee: Pay as per the authorities request.

  • This licence is valid for the period stated in the license.

  • The license will be cancelled if provider is caught guilty of one of the following:
  • Giving false information.
  • Transferring license without approval.
  • Failing to comply with an enforcement notice.
  • Failing to comply with provisions of the WSS Act or license conditions.
  • Failing to provide WSS service according to SLG.
