Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a license (permit) to import meat of wild animals and and birds in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Zambia Wildlife Authority, for the main office visit link.
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the department of national parks and wildlife office.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  7. Approved application will be submitted directly to the Ministry of Tourism & Arts in Lusaka.
  8. After the completion and verification of all the documents, your permit will be available.
  9. The applicant gets the license(permit) in a stipulated period of time.

  • The granted license allows the holder to import wild bird and animal meat for business purposes.

  • The minister may provide permit when:
  • a person, body of persons or institution authorising the person or institution, for purposes of scientific research or the collection of specimens for zoological gardens, museums or education, to hunt in a stated area or part of the Republic such game animal or protected animal as may be specified in the permit.
  • a person or institution authorising the person or institution to rear a wild animal and for such purposes to capture for rearing in a stated area or part of the Republic such game animal or protected animal as may be specified in the permit.
  • a person permitting that person to collect crocodile eggs, bird’s nest or eggs or any other reptile eggs in such quantities, in such an area and for such a period as may be specified in the permit.
  • a Chief or other person approved by the Minister, authorising the Chief or that person to hunt, in any stated area or part of the Republic, such game animal or protected animal as may be specified in the permit.

  • The license allows the supply of wild animals and birds meat products or services, to Zambia’s market from other countries.
