Apply In-Person:
- To apply for de-registration of vehicles in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Road Transport and Safety Agency, for the main office visit link.
- Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting the Road Transport and Safety Agency office.
- Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form given by the road transport department.
- Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the respective office.
- Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
- A physical inspection will be held to check the motor vehicle.
- Upon satisfaction of the authorities, motor vehicles can be de-registered.
- When the vehicle is registered at any RTSA station in Zambia, the certificate will be accessible.
- Collect the required document in a stipulated period of time

- Original motor vehicle or trailer registration certificate.
- Physical inspection Report at a fee of K47.
- Interpol clearance certificate [SAPCO] if its export.
- Zambia Police clearance if scrap.
- General affidavit.
- Copy of identity of registered owner or certificate of incorporation.
- Letter of consent by current and absolute owner.
- Form MVR2.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The vehicle should be deregistered if:
- Has been declared permanently unfit to be on a public road.
- Has been stolen.
- Has been permanently demolished.
- Becomes exempt from registration.

- A motor vehicle that has not been licensed for four years will be deregistered automatically.
