Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for an Excess Exploration Ground license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Ministry of Mines and Minerals office. Please tap on the following link to view contact details: link.
  2. Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form can be obtained by the applicant upon visiting the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development office.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. Submit the application form with ”Required Documents” to the office.
  6. Pay the fee as suggested by the authorities.
  7. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, the applicant will be permitted for an exploration license.
  8. Collect the license from the respective office in a stipulated period of time.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • National Registration Card.
  • Application with a full description of the geographical coordinates of the area of land over which the licence is sought.
  • A statement of the minerals that are going to be searched.
  • An environmental management plan including a proposal for the prevention of pollution, the treatment of waste, the protection and reclamation of land and water resources, for eliminating or minimizing the adverse effects on the environment or prospecting operations.
  • A tax clearance certificate.
  • Proof of adequate financial resources, technical competence and experience to carry on effective prospecting operations.
  • Proof of written consent if the land is within a National Park,Game Management Area, National Forest or Local or is a Bird Sanctuary.
  • Any other document as may be prescribed by the Minister.
