Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for a Provisional Driver’s license in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Road Transport and Safety Agency of the respective area, for the main office visit link.
2. Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant at the Road Transport and Safety Agency office.
4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill-in all the necessary information in the application form given by the road transport department.
5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
6. Pay the fee as per given in the “Fees” section of this page.
7. A driver’s examination will be conducted to check the driving skills of the applicant.
8. Upon clearing the theory & practical test the license can be obtained.
9. After the verification of all the documents, the provisional license will be accessible.
10. Once the test and all the verification process is done, the applicant gets the original license in a stipulated period of time.

Eligibility

• Applicants:
  • Must be at least 25 years of age.
  • Must be a Zambian citizen.
  • Must be a holder of a valid Zambian driver’s licence endorsed with PSV class.
  • Must have undertaken defensive driving lessons.
  • Must show proof of having the ability to administer First Aid.

Fees

• Fees payable: Fee for test of competence is ZK120.00.
• Fee for Instructors Licence: ZK144.00.

Validity

• This licence will be valid for the period mentioned in the permit.
