Apply In-Person
- To apply for a Residence Permit for retirees in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Immigration office, please tap on the following link to view contact details: link.
- Please make sure to have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Upon visiting, the applicant will be provided with an application form to be filled in the immigration office.
- Once understanding the guidelines properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
- Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
- Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
- After the completion and verification of all the documents, the visa will be accessible.
- Collect the visa from the office or wait for the visa to arrive via post on the postal address in a stipulated time.
Apply Online
- Visit the following portal online registration portal.
- Login if you already have an account or register yourself.
- Provide the details asked like name, email and passport number.
- Choose “Type of Representative” from the drop down menu provided.
- Click on the “register” button.
- Go to the login portal again and login with your username and password.
- After you have successfully logged into the system with your account credentials, click “My Profile” to access your personal profile information.
- Data form will be displayed and the information will be organized in 3 tabs: Identity, Address, Contact.
- Fill in all the appropriate details and after you have finished click the “Save” button to save the information.
- Open the “Contact” tab and provide your up-to-date contact information, so that the Immigration Department could reach you for questions and notices. Otherwise, you may miss some important information. Click “Save” after you have finished.
- Now, go to “My Workplace” you will see links under “Available Permits” for various permits
- Select “Resident Visa” service from the permits list present in the menu.
- Click “Next” and complete the application that consists of a form for a Resident Visa and again click “Next”.
- Review the application requirements, scan and upload the required documents, click “Next”.
- Preview the completed application form as a PDF file (you can print or save it for your records).
- If all information is correct, click “Confirm” and preview the system-generated Electronic Bill (you can print or save it for your records).
- If you accept the fees and have your credit card ready, click on the “Pay Online” button. and you will be redirected to the bank site for secure payment processing.
- Enter your billing details, click “Next”and then click the“Pay” button.
- Upon completion of payment, you will be returned to the Payment Receipt page.
- Review your payment confirmation message, print or download Payment Receipt in PDF format, for your records.
- To complete the application process, click on the “Finish” button. You will see the number of the application case you have submitted.
- Your application can be tracked after logging in and going to the “submitted” section.
- Wait for approval of your application.
- After the completion and verification of all the documents, the visa will be accessible.
- Collect the visa from the office or wait for the visa to arrive via post on the postal address in a stipulated time.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Cover letter to the Director General of Immigration.
- Duly completed application form (Form 4).
- Proof of funds (bank statement).
- Proof of permanent pension (irrevocable annuity) or retirement account.
- Proof of ownership of land or lease agreement (where applicable).
- Certified copy of valid passport (bio data & last endorsement stamp for Zambia).
- Two recent passport size photographs.
- Prescribed fee receipt.

An applicant who has an intention to retire in Zambia and showing proof of sufficient funds (pension, irrevocable annuity, retirement account).

Application fee: K 5000.00.
ValidityEdit
Residence Permit is valid for 10 years.

InstructionsEdit
A residence permit shall cease to be valid if the holder—
- Fails to enter Zambia within six months of the date of issue of the permit or such later date as the Director General of Immigration may endorse on the residence permit.
- Is absent from Zambia for a period in excess of six months without notifying the Director-General of Immigration, in writing, that that person proposes to return to Zambia
- Is absent from Zambia for any period in excess of twelve months.
