Apply In-Person:
The applicant will have to take the written test
- Visit the nearest Motor Vehicles office to take your test.
- Here is the link to find the nearest office
- The applicant will have to pay a fee of $20.
- Bring all relevant valid identification and proof you're a Yukon resident.
- If the applicant is under 18 they need to bring a parent or legal guardian. They'll also have to show proof of identity.
- Take the vision test.
- Get your learner's licence
- You'll get a learner’s licence and package once you have passed the written and vision tests. Study the Tuning Up for Drivers Handbook to prepare for your road test.
- Follow the learner stage restrictions.
After getting 50 hours of driving experience, the applicant can move on to the Novice stage.
- The applicant will have to contact your nearest Motor Vehicles office to book a road test appointment.
- A road test costs $20.
- The applicant must provide a safe vehicle with valid insurance and registration.
- Once you pass the road test, you'll be issued a novice licence.
- Follow the novice stage restrictions and conditions
- In the novice stage, there are restrictions you must follow:
- You'll need to be in the novice stage for at least 18 months before you're able to apply for a full class licence.
Visit the nearest motor vehicle office to apply for a full class license.
