Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Industrial Hygienist License, the applicant has to approach the Board for Global EHS Credentialing link
  2. Typically, a bachelor's degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental health, or a related field is required. Some states may also require a specific number of credit hours in related courses.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of $150
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. The officer may require a background check as part of the application process. This is to ensure that applicants have no history of criminal activity that might disqualify them from obtaining a license in this field.
  12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  13. If your application is approved, you will be issued an Industrial Hygienist license. This will allow you to legally practice industrial hygiene in the state where you are licensed.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

  • A resume or CV that highlights your experience and qualifications.

EligibilityEdit

The eligibility requirements for applying for an Industrial Hygienist (IH) license in the United States

  • Complete an accredited industrial hygiene program.
  • Pass the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) exam administered by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
  • Have a certain number of years of experience in industrial hygiene.
