Apply by Mail:
- To Apply for Amateur Radio License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Communications Commission link
- Once the applicant is ready to take the exam, the applicant will need to find an exam session in the area.
- Exam sessions are typically held by local Amateur Radio clubs, and the applicant can find a list of upcoming exam sessions on the website of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
- On the day of the exam, the applicant will need to bring a valid photo ID and payment for the exam fee. The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions, and you will need to pass with a score of at least 74%.
- After passing the exam, the applicant will receive a Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE).
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit the completed form and the necessary documents to the office mail address.
- The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- Once the verification process is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through mail.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee of $35.
- Upon completing all the details, the applicant will get the license from the office.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
