Apply In Person

1. To Apply for Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), the applicant has to approach the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, Federal Aviation Administration link
2. Attend and complete the food handler training course, ensuring that the applicant thoroughly understands the material presented. Some training courses may include an exam that you need to pass to demonstrate your knowledge.
3. Enroll in an FAA-approved ATP training program or an ATP Certification Training Program (ATP-CTP) offered by authorized training providers.
4. The training curriculum typically includes ground instruction and flight training specific to ATP requirements, including advanced aircraft systems, crew resource management, emergency procedures, and high-altitude operations.
5. After completing the required training, the applicant must pass the FAA Airline Transport Pilot Knowledge Test. The test covers a broad range of aviation-related topics, including regulations, aerodynamics, weather, navigation, and aircraft systems. Study materials and practice tests are available to help you prepare for the exam.
6. Once the applicant has met the required flight experience, they will need to pass the FAA Airline Transport Pilot Practical Test.
7. The test includes an oral examination and a flight test conducted by an FAA-designated examiner. During the practical test, the knowledge, skills, and ability to operate an aircraft safely and competently will be evaluated.
8. After completing the knowledge test and practical test, the applicant has to visit the office.
9. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
10. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
11. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
12. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
13. Submit the application form and the documents to the authorized officer.
14. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
15. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
16. As part of the application process, the applicant will need to undergo a background check and fingerprinting. This is to ensure compliance with aviation security regulations.
17. Then the application will be processed further.
18. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
19. Once the application is approved, the applicant will receive the Airline Transport Pilot License through the mail.
20. This entire process can be completed within 4 – 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Eligibility
