- To Apply for 10-Point Veteran Preference, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Government Publishing Office link or the applicant can approach Veterans' Employment and Training Service link
- Note: The applicant can click on their respective state to find nearby office to them.
- The applicant has to download the form from the following link
- The applicant has to enter all the necessary details in the application form.
- Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit the application form and the documents to the authority officer.
- There is no fee for this procedure.
- Once all the verification is done by the authority, the applicant receives a notification through mail for getting certificate.
- The applicant has to visit the department to collect the certificate.
- The processing time for this procedure is up to 7 – 14 days.

- Documentation of Compensable service- connected disability (more than 10%)
- Documentation of Veteran’s death
- Documentation of death during war in the period of April 28, 1952 through July 1, 1955
- Documentation of deceased or disabled Veteran’s mother’s claim for preference because of her husband’s total and permanent disability
- Documentation of annulment of remarriage by widow or widower of veteran
- Documentation of veteran’s inability to work because of a service- connected disability

EligibilityEdit
A 10-point preference eligible is a veteran or eligible family member of a veteran who served at any time, was discharged or released from active duty in the armed forces under honourable conditions and,
- Has a compensable service-connected disability?
- Has a present service-connected disability or is receiving compensation, disability retirement benefits, or pension from the military or the department of veteran’s affairs or
- Has received a purple heart.
This category includes disabled veterans, spouses of disabled veterans, widows/widowers of deceased veterans, and parents of deceased veterans.

Need for the DocumentEdit
Veterans who are disabled or who served on active duty in the armed forces during certain recognized periods, or in military campaigns, are entitled to preference over other qualified candidates from competitive lists of eligible applicants. They are also provided protection for retention consideration during reductions in force (RIFs). Veterans’ preference entitles veterans to employment preference for most Federal civil service jobs.

Ten points are added to the passing examination score of:
- A veteran who served any time and who (1) has a present service-connected disability or (2) is receiving compensation, disability retirement benefits, or pension from the military or the VA. Individuals who received a Purple Heart qualify as disabled veterans.
- An unmarried spouse of certain deceased veterans, a spouse of a veteran unable to work because of a service-connected disability, and
- A parent of a veteran who died in service or who is permanently and totally disabled.
