Procedure

• PDS Smart cards are the digital version of ration booklets designed like an ATM card.
• Applicant shall apply in order to get smart cards in place of existing ration cards.

Apply In-Person

1. The respective ration shop with Electronic Point of Sale (E-POS) to register consumer request/application for issuance of smart card will accept application from the consumers to transfer their existing ration card to PDS smart card.
2. Applicant shall apply with their respective ration shop for transferring traditional ration card to PDS smart card.
3. Go to the respective shop and submit your valid ration card and follow authority’s guidelines.
4. Please obtain the application form as per requirement.
5. Ration Card holder shall approach their respective ration shop of their area.

7. Please complete the application form and attach all the required documents and submit it.
8. Authority will check the documents and take the biometric finger authentication along with aadhar card.
9. After successful processing, applicant will be provided with transaction slip for the submitted application (same will be provided in the mobile number registered).
10. Please keep it safe for future reference.
11. This submitted application will be processed by the respective department.
12. Applicant receives updates on the process.
13. Once the process is successful, the issuance of ration card will take place in Smart Card format as notified and as per applicable norms.

Apply Online

1. Please use the following: Link
2. In the new screen, scroll down to click “Click here to apply online for Non-Subsidised Ration Card or Conversion to Non-Subsidised Ration Card” option.
3. A new screen will be provided. Please enter the valid mobile number on hand at the prompted space and click “GET OTP” button to get OTP.
4. Please enter the received OTP in the appropriate prompt and hit “VALIDATE” button.
5. A new screen will be provided.
6. Please select “New Applicant (Don’t Have Any Digital Ration Card)” option.
7. Applicant gets online form for the respective selection.
8. Please enter / select details as appropriate. Fill in your existing Family card number and complete the page prompts as appropriate. Upload required documents. Finally click “Save and view application” button.
9. User shall follow the resulting page summary of application form. If the summary looks correct hit “Submit” button.
10. Applicant gets acknowledgement for the submitted application. Keep it safe for future reference.
11. This application gets processed by the respective department.
12. Applicant gets notification over mobile and please follow as per the notification to get the card.
13. Applicant shall check the online status using the acknowledgement received.

Apply through Centres:

1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to approach the respective “CSC” centre in their area. Refer the following link for location: CSC Locator link
   • NOTE: The applicant has to select the state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.

• PDS smart card will be useful in reducing malpractice.
• For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.
• Ration card is a mandatory document for all individuals in India. It has to be renewed before it gets expired.
