Apply In-person

  1. Visit the concessional ticket counter at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office. Here is the link to the website
  2. Carry all relevant documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. The documents must be self-attested.
  4. Address the documents to the Sir DCM of the concerned division.
  5. The documents must be sent to the DCM in an envelope.
  6. On the application write “Application for issue of railway identity card for physically challenged persons for ticketing”.
  7. The link to the application form can be found in the “Documents to use” section of this page.
  8. The documents will be forwarded to the concerned authorities who will verify the documents.
  9. The applicant does not have to pay fees.
  10. Once approved, the applicant can collect the photo ID card from the office.


Note:
Carry the ID card with you while travelling to avail tickets at concessional rates as well as to avail assistance.

Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to approach the respective “CSC” centre in their area. Refer the following link for location: CSC Locator link
    • NOTE: The applicant has to select the state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
  2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
  3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
  4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will issue the identity card.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.

EligibilityEdit

The applicant can be of any age group.
The following people are eligible for Railway photo ID card:

  • Orthopedically handicapped; The applicant cannot travel without an escort or assistance.
  • Intellectually disabled persons who need an escort
  • Completely blind person travelling alone or with an escort
  • Totally deaf and mute person (Both afflictions)


Photo ID is also provided to the following people:

  • Cancer patients
  • Heart patient
  • Non-infectious leprosy patients
  • Thalassemia major patients
  • T.B. patients
  • Kidney patients
  • Haemophilia patients
  • Aplastic anaemia patients
  • Sickle-cell anaemia patients



FeesEdit

  • The applicant does not need to pay a fee.



ValidityEdit

  • For both permanent and temporary disability, the certificate will be valid for five years from the date of issue.
  • The certificate will be valid for 10 years if the applicant is between 26 to 35 years of age.
  • For applicants above the age of 35 years, the certificate is valid forever.
