West Bengal - Obtain License (Register) for Photography and Videography Business

Apply In-Person:

  1. An individual (proprietorship) or a partnership firm or a registered private company shall start a photography and videography business.
  2. Please select a name for the company/firm.
  3. Please follow our “India - Register a Firm” procedure to get your company registered. Link for the procedure Link in the given procedure, please find the appropriate provisions to register the company as per the class/type.
  4. Once the firm is registered, the applicant will get memorandum of association and director identification number.
  5. Once the company is registered, please apply and obtain “GST Identification Number”.
  6. Please follow the “India - Register for Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN)” procedure to get the “Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN)”. Link for the procedure Link
  7. The next step is to get “Permanent Account Number (PAN) Card”. Please follow the “India - How to Obtain a Permanent Account Number(PAN) Card” procedure to get the (company) “PAN”. Link for the procedure Link
  8. Now it’s time to open a bank account for the business. Please open a bank account by visiting the respective bank of the applicant’s choice and follow their guidelines.
  9. Once the above steps are complete, please register with “MSME - Ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises” and obtain the card. The process to obtain MSME card shall be obtained as per the “Apply Online for MSME Registration” steps below.
  10. Thus, the registration process is complete to start the business.
  11. The entire process may take up to 45 to 60 days.


Apply Online for MSME Registration

  1. Please follow the link to reach the online portal link
  2. In the given page, please scroll down and click the “Udyam Registration (Online Registration for MSME)” option to reach the “MSME / Udyam Registration Process” page.
  3. Here, please click on the “For New Entrepreneurs who are not Registered yet as MSME or those with EM-II” option to reach the “UDYAM REGISTRATION FORM - For New Enterprise who are not Registered yet as MSME” page.
  4. Here, please enter the aadhaar number at the prompted space under “1. Aadhaar Number” and name as per aadhaar under “2. Name of Entrepreneur”. Please make sure to click the checkbox for the declaration and click the “Validate & Generate OTP” button to get a new pop-up.
  5. Also, an “OTP” will be sent to the mobile number linked with the aadhaar. Please enter the “OTP” at the prompted space under “Enter One Time Password(OTP) Code” and click the “Validate” button to get the online registration form.
  6. Please complete the page prompts as appropriate. Upload the required documents at the prompted space.
  7. Once all the mandatory details are filled, please click the checkbox for the declaration and click the “Submit” button at the bottom to get a new pop-up.
  8. Also, an “OTP” will be sent to the mobile number linked with the aadhaar. Please enter the “OTP” at the prompted space under “Enter One Time Password(OTP) Code” and enter the verification as per the image at the prompted space as applicable and click the “Final Submit” button.
  9. A pop-up with alert message will be provided. Please click the “OK” button and follow the resulting onscreen information.
  10. Please save the acknowledgement slip for the online submission of the application for future reference.
  11. This application will be processed further. Please follow the department’s notification and follow their guidelines to get the card.
  12. The card will be delivered to address mentioned on the application, or it will be delivered as per applicable norms.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to approach the respective “CSC” centre in their area. Refer the following link for location: CSC Locator link
    • NOTE: The applicant has to select the state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
  2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
  3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
  4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. Based on the outcome of the above-mentioned steps and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will issue the license.
  11. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.
