  1. To apply for non-metered motor cab permit, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
  2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
  3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
  4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
  5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
  6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

  • One can apply for this type of permit on the basis of notification from the transport department for inviting application for issue of certain number of permits for the location.
  • Taxis may have meter and they charge according to the meter. On the other hand, there are also some taxi services in India, which charge according the distance covered (per km charge) or time hired (charge per hour)
  • Non-Metered Motor Cab Permit is needed for an vehicle operator to carry passengers from one place to another based on the KM / Time they hired.
  • One cannot operate his vehicle without this permit in the allowed route. Owner of the vehicle should apply for this permit in order to ply his vehicle.
  • Non-Metered Motor cab means any motor vehicle constructed or adapted to carry not more than allowed number of passengers, excluding the driver for hire.
