Apply In-Person:
- The applicant has to reach out to National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for the application. Contact details are mentioned in “Office Locations & Contacts” of this page. Or use the given following Contact Link
- An application form is also available at the following Link
- The applicant should make sure to carry all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
- Applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the form and attach the photocopies of the documents that are needed along with the application form before submitting.
- Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
- An application must be received by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) not later than June 15.
- If NMFS does not receive a complete application by this date, or if it is not postmarked by this date, the crab harvesting cooperative will not receive IFQ for the future crab fishing season.
- If NMFS does not receive a complete and timely application by June 15, it will be assumed that it was timely filed if the applicant can provide NMFS with proof of timely filing.
- IPQ permits are issued annually to eligible persons who hold Processing Quota (PQS).
- For each fishery, area, sector, and Class A/B IFQ categories, the crab harvesting cooperative IFQ permits will list the crab IFQ amounts generated by the aggregate QS holdings of all members of the crab harvesting cooperative.
- The applicant has to contact NMFS for further information.

EligibilityEdit
- All holders of Quota Shares (QS) in the BSAI Crab Rationalization fishery are eligible to join a cooperative; however, each cooperative must have at least four distinct QS holding companies.

- IFQ permits are valid for one year.

- After TACs are available, IFQ are given annually for each crab quota fishery.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- For each form of quota share (QS) held by its members, each cooperative will be issued a separate IFQ permit.
- IFQ permits are provided to Quota Share holders who are eligible (QS).
- These permits give its owners the right to harvest a certain number of crabs, according to the restrictions and conditions outlined on the permit.
