To obtain services you must:
Obtain and complete the appropriate form for the service you require
and
return it to the Records Bureau along with your valid drivers license, Naturalization Certificate and/or a valid Passport
An official letter of explanation from the Police is required for any notation of No criminal record, "No pending criminal case or With derogatory record. For immigration purposes, an police clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued.

EligibilityEdit
Police Certificate, lists an individuals criminal and traffic court outcomes and pending charges that are deemed disclosable at the time of application. The certificate is used by many employers and licensing bodies for their screening process.

Clearances should be in the applicants current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used.

Need for the DocumentEdit
In Virgin Islands (U.S) the Police Clearance Certificate can be either Police Records Check or Criminal and traffic reports.
If you are convicted of a crime, a criminal record is created. This is equivalent to a police clearance certificate, police record, police file, police check or criminal check. If you are asked for any of these, a copy of your criminal record from the Police should meet the requirements. If you have no convictions, you will receive a letter stating that is the case.

The Records Bureau is responsible for the systematic centralization and control of all records from creation through storage and maintenance to final disposition.
The principle duties of the Records Bureau staff are to receive crime, accident and arrest reports from all zones; check reports with chronological listing to ensure correct number and classification and make any necessary changes; file and maintain all reports; create or update criminal records for all adult and minor arrestees. The Records Bureau also issues traffic and police reports to customers.
The Records Bureau division is also responsible for the collection of all fees.
Office hours are 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. St. Croix and St. Thomas hours are 8 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. The St. John office is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 am to 3 pm. All offices are closed on all government holidays.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months) if you are applying for a visa.
Police Clearance Certificates are required for purposes such as court requirements, residence permission or securing employment.
