ProcedureEdit

  1. Obtain a New Application Form A from any Inland Revenue Department office or you may print one online.
  2. Complete the application form and submit to the Inland Revenue Department, Police Department, Magistrate Court, Fire Department, Town and Country Planning, Environmental Health & Trade Department.
  3. State intention to sell intoxicating liquor in two consecutive publications of any newspaper published in the B.V.I., at least two weeks prior to licensing day.
  4. On licensing day, you must appear before the Magistrate, who will make a determination as to whether or not a licence will be granted. The necessary supporting documents must also be available for the Magistrate to review.
  5. If your application is approved, a certificate will be issued specifying the type of licence granted.
  6. You must present the Certificate and pay the prescribed fee to the Inland Revenue Department, which will then issue the liquor licence.
  7. A Government receipt will be issued and payment is immediately reflected on the account.

A temporary or permanent license is issued to a person or body corporate, to sell liquor.



FeesEdit

  • Wholesale (throughout the Territory): $600.00 per annum
  • Retail (throughout the Territory): $150.00 per annum
  • Bar Licence (in Road Town): $50.00 per annum
  • Bar Licence (outside of Road Town): $35.00 per annum
  • Stills: $50.00 per annum
  • Hotels (with less than 10 rooms): $100.00 per annum
  • Hotels (with 10-25 rooms): $150.00 per annum
  • Hotels (with 26-50 rooms) : $200.00 per annum
  • Hotels with more than 50 rooms: $300.00 per annum
  • Restaurants: $300.00 per annum
  • Club: $500.00 per annum

InstructionsEdit

To apply for the procedure you will have to complete and submit an application together with the relevant supporting documents and pay the requisite fee.


License Days: 1st June and 1st December yearly or next working day(s) following if licensing day falls on a Sunday or Public Holiday. If the application along with supporting document(s) are accepted by the Magistrate on Licensing Day, the Certificate is granted. Similarly, the Deputy Governor's Office issues a certificate upon approval.


Deadline: Applications for a permanent licence should commence at least 14 days prior to licencing day. Daily licences are applied for in keeping with the date of the event. Temporary licences are applied for if the applicant missed the Magistrate's licencing day.


Penalties: If you fail to pay the fee within fourteen days of the day on which the certificate was granted by the Magistrate, you shall pay, in addition to the fee, a penalty of twenty (20) percent.
