Venezuela - Apply for Identity Document by Parent Naturalization(C'dula de Identidad)

Follow Venezuelan nationality law, a child born in Venezuela regardless of the nationality or status of the parents, automatically gets his/her citizenship by birth. However, if you were born abroad, are a child of Venezuelan parent by naturalization, are from nine to twenty-five years old, and established residence in Venezuela before turning your eighteen years old, you can apply for Identity document (C’dula de Identidad) by following:

  1. Prepare the requirements:
    • Your certified copy of Birth Certificate issued by a Venezuelan Consulate inserted in the corresponding Civil Registry or a certified copy of birth certificate evidencing the inscription in the Civil Registry.
    • Before reaching 25 years old, please perform the Act of Manifestation of Will to be eligible for Venezuelan Nationality. It is registered in your Municipal Office of Civil Registry.
    • Proof of uninterrupted residence in Venezuela for a minimum period of two years. This corresponds to that of your parents, representatives or persons in charge.
    • Your Declaration of Will to avail of the Venezuelan nationality completed before the Civil Registry or suitable Venezuelan diplomatic or consular authority.
    • Copy of Death Certificate, if one of the parents is deceased. If the death certificate is from abroad, it must be legalized by the Venezuelan diplomatic representation.
    • Your passport of the original nationality or other corresponding legal official documents.
    • Proof of residence issued by the Civil Registry
    • Proof of Naturalization of your parent
    • Your photographs
  2. Visit a suitable SAIME office
  3. If you are under fourteen years old, you must apply with your parent. Present the required documents. Follow all of officer’s guiding to apply for your Venezuela Identity document (C’dula de Identidad). Perform your willingness to accept the Venezuelan Nationality. This must be made with your parent if you are less than fourteen years old. Now waiting for receiving your Identity Document.
