Utah - Apply for Adult Driver License
ProcedureEdit
- Go to the drivers license office.
- Complete an application. You can fill out and print the application ahead of time online and bring it with you when you come into the office, or you can schedule an appointment for your visit to avoid waiting in line at the office.
- Have your photo taken.
- Submit proof of driver education, or a valid license from another state (which you will surrender upon application), or country to avoid having to carry a learner permit for 90 days.
- Provide proof of birth, full social security number and residence.
- Pass the eye test.
- Complete the medical questionnaire.
- Pass a written test and driving test (one or both may be required).
- Pay the non-refundable license fee of $25.00.
Driver Education
Not all applicants for a drivers license are required to take a Driver Education.Anyone who is 18 years of age and younger must complete an approved driver education course. Anyone who is 19 years of age or older after July 1, 2012 are not required to complete a driver education course.
If you are coming from another US State with a driver education completion certificate that completion certificate may be accepted if the course hours are at least 18 hours classroom, 6 hours driving and 6 hours observation.
Note: A Driver Education Course certificate of completion is not a license to drive.

- Through a Commercial Driver Education School; or
- Approved Online/Home Study Driver Education:
