Obtain certificate from Montevideo

For documents relating to the current year request may submitted at the offices in Uruguay sitas 933.

Obtain certificate from Municipalities

Documents may also be obtained from municipalities concerned, provided it is not in the current year.

For documents registered in the current year, you must apply at the Civil Status Office where the registration took place.

Processing Time

The certificate may be issued within 48 hours upon submission of the request. For urgent request, the certificate will be issued within the day.

Need for the Document

A Death Certificate is a document issued by a registrar stating the date, location and cause of a person's death. Insurance companies, the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) or funeral service companies may require a copy of the death certificate, this document is also needed in processing inheritance or applying for insurance claims and other benefits.
