Uruguay - Convert or Exchange Foreign Driver License

Procedure

1. Go to the licensing office and fill in an application.
2. Submit the completed form along with your foreign driver's license, your national identification and translation of your documents (if necessary).
3. You may be required to take and pass various exams (vision exam, theory or practical exam) in order to be issued a local driver's license. Note: Exams that an applicant will be required to take and pass will vary depending on which country the driver's license was obtained.
4. Pay the application fee.

Note: Applicants exchanging their foreign driver's license will only be issued a driver's license for amateur category and motorcycles (up to 200 cc).

Required Documents

• Identity Card: Uruguay, original, current and in good condition.
• Driver's license from the country of origin: original, valid and in good condition.
• If the Driver License has as its country of origin: Japan, China, Korea, Egypt, Israel must provide a translation thereof.
• Passport, certificate issued by migration or passenger ticket
• Medical Examination issued by authorized medical institution.
