Procedure

Apply by mail:

1. To Apply for Fingerprint Card , the applicant has to approach the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned official mailing address
7. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
8. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
10. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the biometric purpose.
13. The applicant has to visit the office on the date of the appointment to complete the biometric purpose.
14. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets the card.
15. This entire process can be completed within 2 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Need for the Document

The card is used for:

• Law enforcement agencies in fingerprinting applicants for law enforcement positions.
• state and local government officers for employment, licensing, and permits, as authorized by state statutes and approved by the attorney general of the united states unless explicitly based on applicable state statutes, local and county ordinances do not satisfy this requirement.
• Us government agencies and other entities required by federal law.
• Officers of federally chartered or insured banking institutions who are responsible for promoting or maintaining their security.

Information which might help

• On fingerprint cards, do not use highlighters.
• In the 'Leave Blank' boxes, do not input any data or labels.
• Ensure that fingerprint impressions are thoroughly rolled from one nail to the next.
• As certain that the fingerprint imprints are in the correct order.
• Make sure to make a note of any missing fingerprint impressions (i.e. amputation).
• Per the fingerprint imprint block, no more than two tabs should be used.
• Make sure there are no stray markings in the fingerprint impression blocks.
