Procedure

You are a United Arab Emirates citizen or resident. You hold a valid United Arab Emirates driving license. In case of lost or damaged driving license, you can apply to replace lost driving license or duplicate driving license. You can apply through the roads and transport authority (RTA) website, the mobile application, the service centres, the approved optical shops for eye test, or the call centre. To do it, please follow:

1. Prepare the required documents:
• Your photograph (passport size)
• Your passport copy and original
• Your valid UAE residency visa or resident ID copy and original
• Your Emirates ID original
• Your damaged driving license or copy of the lost driving license (if applicable)
• Your eye test certificate if the license is older than 5 years
2. Apply through the roads and transport authority (RTA) website
1. Log in the RTA website by your account: https://www.rta.ae/wps/portal/rta/ae/home?lang=ar
2. Enter the link:https://traffic.rta.ae/trfesrv/public_resources/public-access.do?switchLanguage=ar
Please click on ‘Services of driver licensing’, then click on ‘Damaged Lost Driving License Replacement’ to start to check your traffic file and follow its prompt to replace the license. If the license is older than five years and you are required the eye test certificate that issued by the approved optical shops, it will automatically sent to your RTA account and you just scan the required documents and proceed with the applicable payment. You will receive a temporary driving license by printing while waiting for the original license which can be delivered through 2 channels that you are selected at the application time:
• The RTA customer happiness centres or;
• By courier, with an additional fee
3. Apply through the mobile application
Enter the link to research about the app features. This app is available on App Sore iPhone or Google Play android. Please download and install it on your mobile. Create your account and choose the feature ‘Request for an alternative driving license’. Follow its prompts to replaceor duplicate driving license, proceed with the applicable payment, choose the delivery method then wait for the driving license delivery.
4. Apply through the Service Centre
Present at the service centres with the required documents. Follow all of the officer’s guiding to replace the license. Please pay all the due traffic fines (if have), choose the delivery method and proceed with the applicable payment.
5. Apply through the optical shops
Present at a suitable optical shop with the required documents. You will be required to pay all the due traffic fines (if have) of be able for license replacement. Perform the applicable payment, choose the delivery method, and receive a temporary driving license while waiting for the original license delivery.
6. Apply through the call centre 8009090
You should contact the call centre and provide RTA with your driving license number. Follow all of officer’s guiding to submit the require documents. The RTA will verify the submitted documents and issue a temporary driving license while waiting for the original license is delivered by the delivery method you choose.

Eligibility

• United Arab Emirates citizen or resident.
• Hold a valid United Arab Emirates driving license.
• In case of lost or damaged driving license

Fees

• AED 100 replacement fee for customer is younger than 21 years old
• AED 300 replacement fee for customer is older than 21 years old
• + AED 20 for knowledge and innovation fees

Validity

The remaining period of validity of the damaged or lost license.
