Uganda - Obtain a Trading License Pharmacy-Grade II

ProcedureEdit
- Licence or Permit for Pharmacy grade II can be obtained from Municipal Council Authority near your Location.
- Fill up the appropriate application form as described by the Municipal council.
- The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- Submit the dully filled in form attached the with pay slip to the Licensing Officer in charge of the area.
- On completion of this process, the Council will, within sixty days of receipt of the application, issue to the applicant a practicing license in the prescribed form upon being satisfied that the applicant:
- is duly registered or enrolled pharmacist.
- is not for the time being suspended from the pharmacist practice.
- has complied with such other conditions as the council may prescribe including fulfillment of the prescribed requirements for continuous professional.
- Collect your pharmacy Licence certificate from where your application was submitted within 2 days from the date the application was received at municipality in case there is no rejection.

- Original KCCA receipt for the previous year indicating existing business.
- Original rent and tenancy agreement from the Land lord for the new business.
- Original trading License for the previous year for already existing business

EligibilityEdit
- Any person of 18 years carrying out business in Municipality/Division/Town/City/Kampala City Council Authority’s jurisdiction.
- Except those who are exempted under Section 8(2) of the Trade Licensing Act are eligible to obtain Trading license to operate a Pharmacy Grade II.

InstructionsEdit
- An application for a practicing license should be made to the National Drug Authority in such manner and form as may be prescribed.
- Every application should be accompanied by the prescribed fee.
- A non-citizen pharmacist who wishes to obtain a practicing license in Uganda should-
- submit a written application in the form prescribed by the Authority;
- possess at the time of initial licensing as a pharmacist in a foreign country all qualifications necessary to have been eligible for licensing at that time in Uganda;
- present to the Board proof of initial licensing in a foreign country and evidence that such practicing licence is in good standing in that country in that it has not been suspended, revoked, or otherwise restricted for any reason except non-renewal or for the failure to obtain the required continuing education credits in that country;
- present proof of membership of the foreign country' s respective professional association;
- pay the fees prescribed by the Authority; and
- fulfill such other conditions as may be prescribed by the Authority.

A person is deemed to engage in practice if the person engages in, conducts or carries on the dispensing, compounding, or community pharmacing of any prescription medicines within Uganda either-
- on the persons own account and is entitled to receive the entire amount of all fees and charges earned for the persons own financial benefit; or
- in partnership with others where the person is entitled to receive a share of the profits earned.
