- Persons leaving or entering Uganda are permitted to take from or bring into the country up to UGX20,000,000 of Ugandan currency
- Foreign currencies may be imported or exported without restrictions but amounts exceeding USD 10,000 must be declared.

Importation of currencies into Uganda
- Residents and Non-residents are required to declare the amount of currencies they have on them once you they have entered Uganda from any point of entry.
- The permissible amount of Ugandan currency one can import into Uganda without declaration is up to UGX 20,000,000. If you are carrying any amounts in excess of this you should approach the customs office to make a declaration.
- Similarly, foreign currencies may be imported into Uganda without restrictions, however amounts exceeds USD 10,000 must also be declared
- At the customs office you will be given a Form F88 Passenger Declaration Form which you are required to fill and submit
- You will also be required to submit your valid passport with the declaration form
- Once you have made the declaration you will be grated a pass into the country.
Exportation of currencies into Uganda
- Residents and Non-residents are required to declare the amount of currencies they have on them once you they have before they leave Uganda from any point of entry.
- Residents may export up to UGX 20,000,000 (Uganda Shilling-UGX) to cover expenses upon re-entry into Uganda. No restrictions apply to foreign currencies.
- Non-residents may export local and foreign currency without restrictions.
- However, for amounts equivalent to USD 5,000 or more residents and non-residents need to hold documents indicating the source and the purpose of this amount.
- Therefore, if you are holding this amount you should visit the customs office at the point of exit to make a declaration of the amount you are holding.
- Here you will be given a Form F88 Passenger Declaration Form which you are required to fill and submit.
- You will also be required to submit documents indicating the source and the purpose of this amount and your valid passport.
- Once the customs office verifies your documents you will be granted an exit pass.
