Apply In-Person

  1. A hand written application should be addressed to the Ministry Of Defence and Veteran Affairs Human resource Department on the dates mentioned in the advert depending on applicant area of origin.You can visit their website on the following Link Uganda Peoples Defence Forces UPDF
  2. Pick the Application form from the Ministry Of Defence and Veteran Affairs Human resource Department,which should be filled in triplicate and submitted the to the Ministry Of Defense and Veteran Affairs Human resource Department.
  3. The application forms can also be obtained from the various recruitment centres across the country as indicated by the advert from UPDF.
  4. The applications should bear the title as well as the Reference Number of the post applied for.
  5. Applicants should attach the following documents before submission
    • Three recent passport size photos,
    • Three sets of certified photocopies of their academic transcripts and
    • Certificates and National identity card (ID).
  6. Applicants should apply for a maximum of only two (2) posts clearly indicating the first and second choice against the post applied for.
  7. Applicants if subsequently shortlisted for oral interviews shall be required to present the following documents :-
    • Certified copies and originals of the academic transcripts
    • certificates at the time of sitting interviews.
    • Your personal details (like full name, date of birth and address)
    • Your education history and qualifications
    • Your employment history
    • Any convictions
    • Your financial situation and any business interests
    • Any tattoos you have
  8. Before joining the Airforce, you will have to complete a medical and fitness test to make sure you've got the strength and endurance needed to be Airforce pilot of UPDF.
  9. Next, the applicant should not have been convicted of any criminal offence in any court of law.
  10. In addition, successful candidates must be prepared to undergo a Twelve (36) months of intensive flight training before deployment.
  11. Next, you’ll undergo robust background and security checks, involving searches on national and local information databases
  12. Once you’ve successfully completed all of the stages in the application process, you will now be in a position to report for further Training and the recruitment officers will give you all the details of everything you need to know about your potential flight training dates and next steps.
  13. All successful candidates are expected to report at the Army Air base Training School, or UMA Kabamba Military school or JCSC Gadaffi Jinja or Uganda Military Engeneering college or Oliver Tembo Leadership School Kaweweta or Armoured warfare Training school or non commissioned officer Academy for the 36 months intensive Training Course for new beginner. Pilots with Experience take short period of Training.
  14. After successful training course at Army Air base Training School, for a period of 3 years, you will now be allowed to Join Uganda Peoples Defense Airforce as a Learner and you will be issued with all the necessary equipments including a new army Uniform.

  13. Aircraft maintenance Engineers category A&C ( Engine and Airframe), category X ( Electrical and Avionics, Radio and Instruments).
  14. Air Traffic Controllers.
  15. Radar Engineers and Radar Operators.
  16. Flight Operators.

InstructionsEdit

  • Presentation of forged documents is criminal and culprits will be liable to prosecution.
  • Effective recruitment into UPDF Airforce is subject to successful completion of the training.
  • There is no retreat or surrender once you have joined the Airforce.
  • You must have a bias in science subjects especially physics, math and geography.
  • NO children in armed conflict and Airforce.

  1. The Uganda Air Force is a statutory institute and a service arm of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, the other being the Land Forces.
  2. The Defence forces Act, 2005, establish it Section 3 Sub section 2(b).
  3. The Uganda Air force’s mission and vision are in consonance with the country’s comprehensive Defence policy, especially in threats analysis, given the fact that Uganda is a landlocked country.
  4. Uganda Air force is conscious of the fact that any threats to countries that constitute Uganda’s lifelines to the seas are threats to Uganda and this forms a basic ingredient of Uganda’s strategic Defence posture.

Uganda Peoples Defence Forces UPDF CORE TASKS

  1. Defending Uganda’s Airspace and supporting own land forces wherever they are.
  2. Destroying strategic enemy positions.
  3. Providing VIP transport.
  4. Peace support missions and relief in the event of natural disasters.
  5. All the other duties of UPDF as per Article 208 of the constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

The UPDF AirForce Mission

  1. To defend the Uganda’s air space, provide air support to the land forces and engage in operations other than war.
  2. To remain Uganda’s strategic defence power by deterring potential threats and winning wars.
  3. Building of a standard well trained officer and men core capable of adequately contributing to the fulfillment of the Uganda Air Force Mission and supporting regional campaigns.
  4. Participation in regional peace missions.
  5. Provision of support to the Land Forces.
  6. Provision of support to the Land Forces.
