ProcedureEdit

  1. No Person, corporation, company, establishment, group, or agency shall keep Domestic and live Animals without a Permit issued under the Local government.
    • A person shall not keep on any premises a domestic animal other than a companion animal, without a valid permit issued by the Council in the prescribed form or a valid urban agricultural permit issued under of the Local Governments (Kampala City Council) (Urban Agriculture) Ordinance.
  2. After receiving a written application form requesting to keep domestic animals, the veterinary officer shall reviewing the application document by the Veterinary officer and satisfied with information given.
  3. Before the applicant picks a form, the Local council will often require an inspection of the facilities prior to granting a permit. Councils are required to report the number of domestic animal businesses registered with them to the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and fisheries department of animal resource.
    • The domestic animal businesses must be registered annually with their local council and comply with the appropriate mandatory Code of Practice
  4. Then Pick and fill the application form from the council
  5. After filling the application proceed to pay the required fees
    • Mode of payments is pay in the Bank or debit transfer as prescribed on the application form.
  6. After you have paid and submitted a successful application, you will be issued with a payslip which can be used as proof of payment. Attach the same on the application form.
  7. The permit to keep domestic animals and livestock shall be issued after 30 working days.
    • Instructions on collection of the issued permit are sent via phone call and text messages.
  8. One is required to physically present themselves while collecting the permit to keep domestic animals and livestock. Proof of identity is required when picking up the permit.
  9. A permit granted under the provisions of this Ordinance shall specify the premises, the number and kinds of domestic animals and the duration of the period in respect of which the permit is valid.

All person with domestic animals and wishes to comply with the appropriate mandatory Code of Practice in Uganda are eligible for this permit.

  2. Age and sex.
  3. Nationality.
  4. Name of BMU.
  5. Purpose of the application.
  6. Company name.
  7. the type, sex, number and age of the animals
  8. Photograph and copy of any identification.
  9. Name of Authorized Licensing Officer.
  10. Nationality /No./Passport No
  11. Telephone No.

A person shall not, except with the express written permission of the Council, graze any animal or cause or permit any animal to be grazed in the following areas—

  • a road reserve within the meaning of the Roads Act;
  • a public park;
  • a green belt gazetted the Council; or
  • a dumping ground
