- To apply for a private domiciliary clinic License, the applicant should visit the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council in Health department at the council offices with an application form in a prescribed manner specified by the City Council.Find their website on the following link
- The Act provides that any registered nurse; and registered or enrolled midwife, who intends to open a domiciliary health unit or a maternity home shall apply to the council for the registration of such domiciliary health unit or maternity home.
- Then after that, the applicant is required to collect and complete the prescribed application form C, obtainable from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council head office. The Council (Licensing Board) Regulations, shall prescribes form C for the application for the license.
- Submit the completed form C in all respect and all the relevant documents to the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council. Any omission of the supporting documents will render the application process incomplete.
- The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council Licensing board shall, within 5 days of receipt of an application, investigate and prepare a detailed report in respect of the application.
- The Act provides that the council shall, or after making an inquiry and receiving a fee prescribed by the council, authorize the registration and licensing of the Private domiciliary health unit or maternity home; and upon registration, a license shall be issued in respect of that private domiciliary health unit or maternity home.
- Pay a non- refundable License application fee of sixty two thousand five hundred (62,500) shillings to the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (Licensing) Board.
- The Act provides the procedure for registration; the council may, after making such inquiry as it considers necessary, and receiving a fee determined by the council, authorize the registration of the specific health unit.
- The registrar shall not register a domiciliary health unit or maternity home in the name of a registered nurse or midwife unless the registrar is satisfied that there is a registered medical practitioner in the locality who will supervise the domiciliary health unit or maternity home.
- The Authority shall notify the applicant, in writing, of its decision Within a period of 7 days after the afore-mentioned period, the Health committee of Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council shall and upon registration, domiciliary shall be licensed under the Act, and a license shall be issued as set out in Form C in the Third Schedule or may refuse to grant the application a license, it shall state the reasons in such notice.
- At the discretion of the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and subject to conditions that the council may determine, the registrar may register a private domiciliary Health Unit operated by a medical assistant, nurse or midwife, as the case may be, exclusively for the use of a body corporate of an institution but under the supervision of a registered medical practitioner.
- The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council shall cause a new private domiciliary health unit to be published in the Gazette soon after registration is authorized and a license issued in respect of a domiciliary unit with the particulars of the Health unit as stated in section 33 of the Act.
- The license shall be subjected to terms and conditions as the health committee of the council deem fit. The private domiciliary health Unit shall also be subjected to supervision and monitoring by the health committee of council.
- A license shall expire at the end of one year from the date of issue and will be subject to renewal for one year at a time

- Original certificate or professional ID with photocopy of the certificate for all qualifications.

FeesEdit
Fees for domiciliary of private license fee.
- 50,000/= is the license fees required for Domiciliary Homes in hard to reach areas(Rural).
- 60,000/= is the license fees required for Domiciliary home in Urban areas.
- 65,000/= is the license fees required for Nursing homes in hard to reach areas(Rural)
- 75,000/= is the license fees required for Nursing home in Urban areas
- 39,000/= is the renewal Fees for domiciliary home.
ValidityEdit
- Private General nursing clinic and midwifery domiciliary clinic licenses are valid for three year and must be renewed by 31 March of each year

- If your previous renewal was over 3 years ago there is a late payment Charge.
