Uganda - Apply for a Medical Visa

The Medical Visa is issued for to persons whose nationalities require visa to enter Uganda for medical reasons.
The Medical Visa is given to those seeking medical treatment in reputed/recognized specialized hospitals/treatment centres in Uganda.
Apply Online
- The first is to visit Directorate of citizenship and immigration control under the ministry of internal affairs website portal link online scroll down and click on ‘’start a new application’’ button.
- The next step is to read through the terms and conditions then click on ‘’Accept’’you will then be redirected to the next page begin your application process.
- The first Application process is to select the type of application under visa or permit type drop box select ‘’Medical visa’’ under category drop box select the period duration of your stay under subcategory drop box the computer system will automatically select the same period duration as select under category then click on ‘’next step’’.
- Another step is filing of the application form read through the instruction carefully and fill it accurately, verify all the information if it is correct then click on ‘’next step’’.
- Upload all the scanned required document.
- Final step is submitting the application form and required documents.
Apply in Person
The first step as a visa applicant, you will need to establish that you meet all requirements to receive the category of visa for which you are applying.
- The Medical Visa application can also be done in person. The first step is to write a detailed and signed Cover letter requesting for the Medical Visa addressed to the Director of Immigration Services.
- Visit the Uganda Missions/ Embassy abroad to make the application .Here you are required to present the cover letter to the immigration officer at the Ugandan Embassy. The immigration officer will provide you with Application for a Visa to fill and submit.
- State your reason for travel to Uganda as Medical when you fill the application form
- You should then proceed to pay the application fees for the Medical Visa and acquire proof of payment receipt. A fee of USD 51 charged for a Medical Visa.
- You should then attach the following documents to the application form before submission.
- Detailed and Signed Cover letter from the applicant addressed to the Director of Immigration Services requesting Medical Visa.
- Two (2) recent collared passport size photographs
- Copy of a valid national passport / National ID (bio-data page) for both the applicant and the Dependent.
- Valid passport with at least one blank page with clear bio-data page and photograph
- Valid travel document not less than six months.
- An onward ticket
- A letter from Hospital/ Doctor recommending treatment in Uganda giving details of treatment
- An invitation letter from the hospital in Uganda where applicant wishes to avail the treatment
- A copy of latest bank statement as proof of applicant’s financial capacity to incur expenditure for treatment.
- Proof of payment receipt.
- You should then lodge the completed application to the Uganda mission abroad.
- After lodging the application the Medical Visa will be ready for collection after review at the Uganda mission / Embassy after 5 working days.
- You are required to bring proof of identification when collecting the Medical Visa
- You will be contacted through text and/or email when to collect your ready document.
Note: To avoid any disappointment, applicants are advised to submit their complete files at least three working weeks before the intended date of departure although you may also submit your visa application up to 06 months prior to your intended date of travel.

EligibilityEdit
A foreigner who wishes to receive medical treatment from Uganda and has been enrolled in a Medical institution is eligible to apply for a Medical visa.
- This visa is issued to persons whose nationalities require visa to enter Uganda for medical purposes.
- Children sixteen (16) year and below are exempted from visa payment and are not expected to make the Medical visa application.
- Persons with contagious diseases may not be able to get a visa to Uganda ie Ebola.
FeesEdit
- Medical visa (Entry Visa for medical who are not nationals of East African Cooperation.) US$ 50
- A fees of USD $ 50 is charged for the visa.
ValidityEdit
- A Medical Visa to Uganda is valid for 3 months before you travel once it is issued.
- Once you present yourself to immigration control at the port of entry, you may be issued with a stay period not exceeding 90 days, which may be renewed for a further 90 days at the immigration headquarters.
- The maximum number of days of stay in Uganda of a visa is 6 months.

- Once Logged in, Select Fill the form.
- Upload all the scanned required documents.
- Submit the application form.

- The possession of a visa for Uganda is not the final authority to enter Uganda.
- The Immigration Officer at the port of entry may refuse such a person permission to enter if he is satisfied that such a visitor is unable to fulfil the immigration requirements and that the entry and presence of such a visitor, in Uganda would be contrary to national interests even though such a person may be in possession of a valid visa for Uganda, provided that any such refusal is consented to by the Director of citizenship and Immigration Control.
