ProcedureEdit

  1. An importer/Exporter of Animal products must obtain a veterinary health certificate for every consignment.These are issued by the Department of animal health at Ministry of agriculture, animal industry and Fisheries.
  2. Every application for a Veterinary health Certificate under this rule shall be in writing and shall contain such particulars as the commissioner may require.
  3. Before you start the process, you will need to know the type of animal traveling, the country of destination, the date of departure from Uganda, and whether or not the consignment will be traveling alone, as cargo, or with a person in the cabin of the plane.
  4. The applicant should determine when the consignment will be traveling and what country of destination will be.
  5. The Applicant should work with the veterinary Officer to determine the destination country’s requirements, including any necessary vaccinations, tests, and/ or treatments.
  6. The applicant should create a schedule to make sure all requirements are met within the specified time frames.
  7. The applicant should make sure that the veterinary officer issues the health certificate within the validity period set by the destination country.
  8. The Veterinary Health certificate validity period (time frame a certificate can be used during the travel) will be stated in the health certificate.
  9. Once the Veterinary health certificate has been issued by the veterinary officer in charge and endorsed by the relevant authorities as required,then the consignment may be allowed to be dispatched.

Note:Airlines may have separate and additional requirements. It would be important to Check with your airline to determine what requirements they may have, if any.

EligibilityEdit

Any person carrying out Veterinary Health business in Uganda jurisdiction except those who are exempted under Veterinary law License Act are eligible to obtain Veterinary Health Certificate.
