Apply In-Person

  1. The first step is to Contact the nearest Dairy Development Authority office to apply for milk seller license.You can visit their website on the following link Dairy Development Authority
  2. This will be followed by an inspection of the premises by the Dairy Development Authority to determine whether the milk sellers premises has complied with the laid out hygienic and operational requirements.
  3. If everything is in order, you can move on to the next step and make your application for a permit to sale Milk .Where areas of non-compliances are identified, improvements should be undertaken.
  4. Before the Applicant is permitted to open up a milk selling point, the Authority shall satisfy that the applicant meets the requirements necessary for carrying out the activity.
  5. An application to undertake milk selling shall be in a prescribed form set out in the schedule of the regulations.
  6. The application shall be accompanied by the fee specified in the Fourth Schedule to the Regulations.
  7. The application shall,in addition to the fee referred to above , shall make sure that the Structures:-
    • The selling housing unit shall be of sufficient area to carry out work under sanitary or hygienic conditions.
    • and design shall allow location of equipment in such a way that does not impede product and personnel flow.
    • Materials used in construction shall be non-toxic to humans.
    • The materials shall be water proof and non-decompsable under the work environment but this shall exclude polyethylene linings.
    • The walls inside the workroom shall be smooth, cleanable, and have a uniform pattern.
    • Seek regular advisory services from DDA’s Compliance Officers for the Milk selling point, how they should be designed and equipment layout goes on.
  8. On completion of Milk selling facility, contact the nearest DDA office for a preliminary inspection of the facility.
    • Where areas of non-compliances are identified from the inspections, improvements should be undertaken so that everything is up to par.
  9. If everything is in order, you can move on to the next step and submit your application for milk seller permit/ license through the Dairy Development Authority Licensing Board.
  10. Once payment is made the Milk seller license will be processed within two days.
  11. The license has a validity period of one year and you can start operations immediately.
  12. Pay monthly dues and levy as and where applicable. Other conditions of issuance of the license should be observed (Non-compliance can lead to suspension of permit)

  3. Copy of ID card/ Passport documents are required
  4. Business registration certificate of your business is required
  5. Proof of pasteurization of the milk to be sold is required

  • Any person who wishes to undertake the operation of selling milk in an area is Eligible for Milk Seller permit/ License in accordance with regulations made for that purpose.
