Apply in-Person.

  1. The Act states that any person wishing to carry out small-scale prospecting and mining operations should apply for a Location License.
  2. The application for mining Location License should be made to the Commissioner in the form prescribed.Visit their website on the following link

According to the Mining Regulations, 2004, Section 23(1)(a), an application for the grant of an location license under section 56 of the Act shall be made to the Commissioner in Form V (for Classes V and VII location licenses) and Form IV (for all other Classes other than Classes V and VII) as indicated in the Regulations.
  4. Visit the office and obtain an application for mining location license from the concerned department.
  5. Inquire from the officials at the office about the documents to be attached with the completed application form. Complete the application form as required with relevant information and details.
  6. After completing the application form with respect to the need, attach the required documents with the completed form.
  7. Also pay the prompted fees as required. After that, your application form and documents attached will be forwarded further for various processes of verification and validation.
  8. The Commissioner grants the mining Location License according to Section 57(1). According to The Mining Regulations, 2004, Section 23(3), the grant of a mining location license shall be in the Form XXI as indicated in the Regulations.
  9. Section 59(1) establishes the duration of mining location License as not exceeding 2 years. while renewals are to be of durations not exceeding 2 years for a single period.
  10. Once all the processes are done and documents are found in order, your application will be approved and mining location license will be issued with prior notification.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Accurately filled application form should be submitted to Atomic council under ministry of energy and mineral development.
  • A certified copy of company registration certificate or certificate of incorporation
  • Letter of appointment from the applicant (consultant) is required.
  • Prospecting report approved by Department of Geological Surveys or a copy of prospecting waiver.
  • Surveyed coordinates with sketch plan and total area applying for mineral location license.
  • Archaeological clearance certificate from Department of National Museum, Monuments and Art Gallery is required .
  • Clearance from Department of Wildlife and National Parks, if the area is within the game reserve or national park
  • Detailed Feasibility report containing the proposed mineral location and time required to explorer the mineral.

  • Section 60 of the Act confers on the Location License holder the exclusive right to prospect for and mine in the area related to the License, and to remove and dispose of the mineral in respect of which the license was issued.
