ProcedureEdit

  1. Coffee Grading Certificate can be obtained from Uganda Coffee Development Authority Head office.
    • No person shall export any coffee unless it is graded and conforms to the specifications of the export grades as set out in the prescribe ordinances of the Regulations or any other grades that may be approved by Uganda Coffee Development Authority.
  2. A quality controller who grades any coffee shall issue a grading certificate in Form 5.
    • Coffee shall be graded, by a quality controller of the Authority under the following category
      • prior to the sale by the grower
      • After processing or
      • Prior to the sale to the public or
      • prior to export
  3. Fill up the application form 5 as described by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority.
  4. Any person who wishes to engage in coffee Export MUST obtain a coffee Grading Certificate from Uganda Coffee Development Authority under the following conditions:
    • Coffee should be processed, handled and stored in suitable conditions for preservation of quality.
    • Hulling of coffee whether dry or wet processed shall only be effected on properly dried cherries (Kiboko 13-14% moisture content) or parchment (13-14% moisture content).
  5. After filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee
  6. Submit the dully filled in form attached with pay slip to the Coffee Quality controller Officer in charge of the area in which the coffee premises is located.
  7. If the Coffee Controller deem it fit then the applicant shall collect coffee grading certificate from Uganda Coffee Development Authority where your application was submitted within 1 day from the date the application was received at the Authority in case there is no rejection.

EligibilityEdit

Any individual or Company interested in coffee selling, processing, exporting can be eligible for coffee grading Certificate.

FeesEdit

Fees Charge for coffee grading certificate is calculated by Less of 1 % of the exported quantity/consignment charged every month.

ValidityEdit

  • Validity: According to period specified on the Certificate.

Usually Valid for 90 days.
