Process for change of School Location:

  • A school is licensed, registered and classified under a specific Location and name (Section 32(2) of the Education – (Pre- Primary, Primary and Post - Primary) Act 2008). This location specifies the land title /tenancy agreement.
  1. Any school owner who wishes to change the location of the school must seek approval by the PS/ES/CAO/Town Clerk before the school location is changed.
    • The school owner who wishes to change location of his/her/their school should apply to PS/ES or CAO/Town Clerk and attach the following:-
      • District Inspector of schools’ report;
      • District Health Inspector’s report;
      • DES’ report of the new site and location;
  2. A school owner who changes location without prior approval of the PS/ES or CAO/Town Clerk will cause closure of the school and an immediate cancellation of the school’s registration certificate(Section 37 (2) of the Education –(Pre-Primary, Primary and Post-Primary)Act 2008)
  3. After filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee. Note that Payments can be made by cash,cheque or credit cards i.e. Visa or MasterCard and if you are paying by cheque please make payment to the Accountant General of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
  4. The department concern will verify your application and approve your application form.
  5. Then the application will be processed and a certificate will be issued to you.
    • All the above process must express suitability of the location in accordance with the laws therein.

Note:Change of location should be at the end of the school year to avoid interrupting the teaching and learning process.

  • A copy of the license letter.
  • The original certificate of registration of the school.
  • Minutes of the BOG approving and/or recommending the school change location and stating the reason for that decision.
  • The District Inspector of Schools’ report showing the status of the new location.
  • The District Health report showing the health status of the new Location.
  • The District Education Service Report showing the new site and location.
  • A list of Directors of the school and their qualification.
  • Status of the classes rooms for the new site.
  • Numbers of furniture in the classrooms.
  • List of graduate teachers, their qualifications (registration certificates), academic and professional documents; appointment letters and contracts at this level as well as subjects they teach.
  • Land title/Tenancy agreement of the new site.

Any registered school with the Ministry of Education and sports who wish to change location are eligible.

FeesEdit

Issuance of this certificate is contingent upon the payment of a fee.

ValidityEdit

A certificate issued under this Act is valid for a long time.
