Uganda - Apply for Architect Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC)

ProcedureEdit

  1. In order to apply for Architect temporary practicing certificate, the applicant has to apply in person to the Registrar Architects Registration Board.
  2. Submit a filled application after depositing 10,000shs, For application form.
  3. Attach the required documents then submit to the Registrar and the application form (Form TPC) should be sumitted to the Architects Registration Board or you can forwarded them to the:
    The Registrar
    Architects RegistrationBoard
    P.O. Box 23831,Kampala.
  4. The Application form should be filled in triplicate,
  5. The Original copy should remain with the applicant
  6. Duplicate copy should be filed in applicant’s file
  7. The last copy should remain in the book.
  8. Submit the application with all the required documents.These documents include;
    1. Application Form TPC.
    2. Proof of payment Fee of shs. 300,000.
    3. Name in full Practicing Architect.
    4. Address in full— (a) permanent address (b) contact in Uganda
    5. Date and place of birth
    6. General education (give details with address)
    7. Architecture education (state degree, diploma or Licence of a university or school of architecture/engineering) Documentary evidence required.
    8. Positions held (state dates and degree of responsibility)
    9. If not already in Uganda, date of intended arrival.
    10. Work or works in Uganda for which engaged (specify project or nature of work and state duration of work)
    11. Architectural capacity in which engaged.
    12. Name of registered architect with whom you are associated (attach collaboration agreement)
  9. When you have completed to fill the form and the appropriate attachments, you must attach evidence of payment of 300,000shs.(URA receipt scanned or delivered) for processing the application.
  10. Please provide the names and addresses of registered architect with whom associated with who can comment on the character competence and reputation of yourself and your firm.
  11. Please provide the name and address of your firm's bankers as required by the Registrar.
  12. Submit the payment receipt together with the application documents. An application form is 10,000sh.
  13. The Registrar shall after receipt of application referred the application to any public authority designated by the Committee for consideration and comments.
  14. The permit may be granted for a period not exceeding one year; the certificate shall be granted subject to such conditions as are relevant to the specified particular types of projects determined by the Committee;This certificate is valid only for the projects for which it has been granted.
  15. A processing time of 30 working days is needed to complete the processing of the Architect Temporary Practicing, after which you will be contacted through email/ phone call to collect your Temporary Practicing Certificate.
  16. You will be required to carry your identification documents when collecting your Temporary Practicing Certificate.

ValidityEdit

  • Architects temporarily practicing certificate are required to practice Architects .
  • The certificate is valid only for the projects for which it has been granted usually 1 year.

An applicant for Architect temporary practicing certificate may be required to satisfy the Architects Registration Board that his or her architecture and general conduct have been such as to make him or her a fit and proper person to be registered under the Architects Registration Act.
