In order to become a registered architect in Uganda applicants must go through the following:
- Professional Qualification in Architecture, from a school accredited by the Commonwealth Association of Architects or equivalent.
- Applicant should have been under Practical Experience under the supervision of a Registered Architecture.
- Also, Applicant should have successfully completed the Professional Practice Examination for Architects. The exam is made up of three parts; Case Study, Written Examination and Oral Examination.
- Once the applicant has successfully completed the above stages, applicants can go ahead to submit an application form using form AR in order to be registered as an architect with the Architects Registration Board.
- Once application is approved he/she will be entered into the Rooster of Architects and will be assigned a registration number.
Note: All items should be submitted in duplicate as two separate sets bound in one file folder.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Filled out Registration Application Form (In duplicate) with all the required signatures and stamps as indicated on the form.
- Recommendation letter from your country’s board
- All three sponsors/recommenders. MUST sign and stamp on the form.
- Proof of Payment of registration fees amounting to the equivalent of fifty thousand Uganda shillings(50,000) for Ugandan citizen.
- Application form fee of ten thousand Uganda shillings (10,000/=) only.
- Copies of certified academic qualification documents.
- For Ugandans who qualified from foreign institution, please attach letter of equivalence from National Council for Higher Education.
- Colored Copy of valid National ID(for Ugandans) or Passport(non-Ugandans). Must be signed
- Color passport size photo.
- Certificate of good conduct signed and stamped (for Non-Ugandans)
- Copy of Current year’s certified practicing certificate from your country’s board (for Non Ugandans)
- Copy of certified Registration certificate from your country’s board ( for Non-Ugandans)
- Letter of Corporate membership from Uganda Society of Architects.
- Proof of payment(receipt) of subscription for Corporate membership of Uganda Society of Architects.

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant must be a corporate member of the Architects society of Uganda or a corporate architect.
- Applicant must have furnished sufficient guarantee of academic knowledge of any practical experience in architecture field.
- a holder of a degree or diploma awarded by a university or other institution recognized for the time being by the board.
- The applicant must have a practical experience of not less than two years.
- The applicant should have satisfied the board that he or she possesses qualifications which furnish a sufficient guarantee of the possession of the requisite knowledge and skill for the efficient practice as an architect
- Applicant must have passed the professional examination conducted by the board.

- Registration fee—
- citizen, shs. 50,000;
- noncitizen, shs. 500,000.
- Application form fee of ten thousand Uganda shillings (10,000/=) only.
ValidityEdit
- Registered Architects are required to be licensed to practice each year.
- An Architects good standing, CPD requirements and an annual fee will allow eligibility to be licensed.

- The final registration is subject to approval by the ARB Board.
- Additional requirements may be requested.
- For Ugandans, all foreign qualifications must be accompanied with a National Council for Higher Education (NHCE) equivalence document.
- An applicant for registration may be required to satisfy the Architects Registration Board that his or her architecture and general conduct have been such as to make him or her a fit and proper person to be registered under the Architects Registration Act.

- Information on References from the architect under whom you trained or worked are required
- by stating Practical architectural training(state dates and architect under whom you trained) and Position held (state dates and degree of responsibility)on the application form.check sample document section on this procedure.
- Attached to the application the proof payment of the subscription for the current year as a member of the Uganda Society of Architects.
- Proof of payment by cheque/bank draft for payment of the prescribed fee.
- Trading Licence certificate attached.
- N.S.S.F certificate attached.
- VAT registration certificate attached
