ProcedureEdit

  1. Obtain application from A and B from the passport control office in you region and fill it them accordingly.
  2. Take from A to be recommended by the head of your institution of study, lecturer or administrator in institution of learning.
  3. Go to the local council of your area of residence to get endorsement for your passport application.
  4. Obtain a cover letter from your institution of learning addressed to the passport control office and attach it to your application.
  5. Visit any URA revenue collection bank such as Bank of Africa, Diamond Trust Bank, Stanbic, Crane, Barclays, Orient etc. and pay passport fees. The Passport costs Uganda Shillings UGX 250,000 for normal applications or UGX 400,000 for Express applications (UGX 250,000 for ordinary processing plus UGX 150,000 as Express Service fee), UGX 400,000 for Official Passports and UGX 500,000 for Diplomatic Passports. All fees are exclusive of bank charges which vary from bank to bank i.e. UGX 2200 to UGX 3000. And obtain the receipt of payments
  6. Fill all the prepared documents including those mentioned in “required documents” below, in a manila file folder and visit the ministry of internal affairs or any passport control office or regional immigration office in your location.
  7. At the office present your documents in the manila file to the passport control officer at the passport section.
  8. The officer will verify the information you have presented and present you application for processing.
  9. Collect your passport in Person after ten working days (normal passport applications) or two (2) working days (for Express Passport Applications) from the point where you submitted the application, unless advised otherwise by an Immigration Officer. You will be required to present your Receiving Slip and identifications at the time of collecting your passport at the Passport Delivery Office.

Apply Online

  1. In order to apply for online student passport, please follow the link online portal:online portal
  2. Accept the terms and conditions displayed in the Disclaimer.
  3. Answer simple security questions.
  4. Complete the passport application form online.
  5. You will then need to fill your personal details your names,telephone contact,marital status,date of birth,residential address and details of origin.parent details,Next of Kin,Residential Address and others.
  6. You will be directed to the Recommender page, fill the details of all your recommender including their contact details and NIN number.The recommender should be either School head, or lecturer or administrator in institution of learning..
  7. Make payment for the selected type of passport using the selected payment method and Bank.
    • The modes are: Mobile money , Debit Card, Credit Card, Prepaid Debit Card, Airtel Money and Bank Agent. You should choose your preferred payment method and then pay.
    • Kindly note that payments via Debit/Credit/Prepaid Cards attract an extra 2.5% handling fee.
  8. Schedule appointment for a date of your convenience using the schedule appointment link on the home page.passport Link 1
  9. You should then print your filled application and three copies of the invoice to present to the DIRECTORATE of CITIZENSHIP and IMMIGRATION CONTROL department offices.
  10. The online application form will require the applicant to fill all the details. After you fill all the details you will then be asked to review the form and ascertain that the details therein are correct. If everything is okay then you should click continue for the final submission.



Visit immigration offices to complete application

  1. After printing the application and invoice you are required to visit Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala, or at Uganda Missions abroad for collection of fingerprints, digital photo and signature and also to drop required documents.
  2. You must appear in-person for digital photo and biometrics capture at Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control office in Kampala, or at Uganda missions abroad.
  3. You must present the following documents to the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices:
    • An Online pre-filled Student passport application form and three invoices.
    • Covering letter addressed to the Passport Control Officer from institution of learning.
    • Original copy of school Identification.
    • 4 colored passport size photos taken against a white background.
    • Recommender letter on Headed letters should be either head, or lecturer or administrator in institution of learning.
    • Original birth certificate and photocopy.
    • Original National ID Card and photocopy if 18years of age.
    • Parents National ID cards copies or Death Certificate if deceased.
    • Students who are below the age of eighteen years, the parents or legal guardian’s written consent must be provided.
    • For applicants who are adopted, the original adoption certificate, clearance letter from the children’s department, and or, the Court ruling or award.
  4. After lodging the application the passport will be ready for collection at the Directorate of Citizenship and immigration control offices after 4 working days if express processing or 10 working days ordinary processing.
  5. You are required to bring proof of identification when collecting the passport. You can also track the application progress through your online account https://www.passports.go.ug. You will be contacted through text and/or email when to collect your passport.
