Apply In-Person
- To apply for Permanent vehicle (Car, Bike, Motorcycle) registration in Tripura, the applicant has to approach the RTO office of the area.
- Information related to the RTO offices and registering authority can be obtained from the “Office and Location” Section of this page.
- You will have to submit Application in front of registering authority within seven days of purchase of vehicle along with the documents.
- The application shall be made in application Form no-20, Form-21 and Form-34 to the RTO

- The application form no 21 (sale certificate) can be downloaded through following link: Form 21
- The application form no 34 can be downloaded from the following link: Form 34 however, the form attested by vehicle financer is needed if the vehicle is purchased on loan.

- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application

Apply Online (Through Parivahan Portal)
- To Register a Vehicle (Car, Bike), the applicant can make the application online via the following link link
- The applicant has to click “Drivers/ Learners License” and select the respective state from the drop-down menu.
- On the next tab, the applicant has to click “Register a Vehicle (Car, Bike)” and read the instructions and click “Continue”
- Next the applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- Next the applicant should book the slot and visit the office on the respective date.
- All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.

- Form-A under Taxation Act, 1997

- Passport size photograph
- In case of imported vehicle, Custom clearance certificate along with the license and bond
- Aadhaar Card
- Pollution under control certificate
- Proof of address (Ration card, Electricity bill etc.)
- Original sales certificate from the concerned authorities in Form 21 in the case of ex-army vehicle
- Copy of PAN card of Form 60 and Form 61 (as applicable)
- Dealer and manufacturer invoice
- Proof of Date of Birth: Aadhar Card
- Chassis & Engine Pencil Print (if applicable)

- Guidelines for application
- Apply for permanent registration of a motor vehicle in Form 20 to the Registering Authority in whose jurisdiction the vehicle is
- If the vehicle has been temporarily registered then apply before the temporary registration expires
- Confirm whether the registration involves hypothecation in which case refer Hypothecation
- Confirm the type of registration number (Fancy number/Choice number/General number).
- Confirm about the usage requirement of HSRP/smart card
- Pay appropriate fee as specified in Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 depending on the choice of registration number and use of HSRP/smart card
- Pay Tax as per Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 depending on the choice of registration number and use of HSRP/smart card

- Valid Vehicle Number , Chassis Number and Mobile Number for OTP
- Valid details about payment modes like Internet banking, Debit/Credit Card etc details for making payments.
- Additional documentary evidence for transport vehicle
- Vehicle is not covered by any permit issued by any transport authority
- Sum of money agreed upon to be paid by the holder of the permit, if any, is not pending recovery
- Evidence of payment of tax on passengers and goods under any law for the time being in force up to the date of application for no objection certificate
