ProcedureEdit

  1. To apply for a Tourism Industry Certification (TTTIC), tour guides, tour operators and short term vehicle rental companies will need to purchase the TTTIC application package, which includes information on standards and requirements, from the Tourism Development Company Limited (address is provide below under 'Office Locations & Contacts' section. The application package costs TT$60.00.
  2. Read the guidelines outlined in the standard carefully. If possible conduct a self-evaluation and check of you have complied with the requirements.
  3. Submit the completed application and all relevant documents to the TDC office.
  4. An audit to be conducted by the TDC and the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS) will be scheduled. Check how much is the audit fee below.
  5. Any noncompliance identified during the assessment must be corrected before certification is granted.
  6. A certificate is issued when all requirements are met.

  • Tour Guides must also submit these documents:
    • Tour guide certificate
    • Magistrate's guide license
    • Job letter, if employed by a tour operator
    • Personal accident insurance
    • Public liability insurance, if not employed by a tour operator.
  • Tour operators and short-term motor vehicle rental companies must also submit these documents:
    • Approval for the place of business from the Town and Country Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning and Development
    • Public liability insurance (a minimum of TT$250,000.00)
    • Value Added Tax (VAT) registration certificate
    • Certificate of Incorporation

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago encourages tour guides, tour operators and short-term motor vehicle rental companies to apply for certification under the Trinidad and Tobago Tourism Industry Certification (TTTIC) programme.

FeesEdit

  • TTTIC application package: TT$60.00
  • Audit fee:
    • Tour Guides - TT$100.00.
    • Tour Operators - TT$275.00 per hour (duration of audit is 2 hours).
    • Short Term Motor Vehicle Rental Operators - TT$275.00 per hour (duration of audit is 2 hours).

ValidityEdit

Certificates are valid for three (3) years and annual surveillance audits are conducted.
