ProcedureEdit

  1. To apply for an education grant, parents must visit the Social Welfare Division office in their district and speak to an officer.
  2. The officer will complete an application form and have the application reviewed by the people in charge of granting the grant.
  3. Applicants will be asked to present recent school report on the child. The social welfare worker may also request for other relevant documents.

Need for the DocumentEdit

The Education grant is granted to help pay for a child's maintenance cost at secondary school, such as transportation and other school related expenses. The maximum amount an applicant can receive is TT$500.00 per child per month, up to a maximum of four children. The grant is given on a monthly basis while the child is attending secondary school, and it is reviewed annually by the Local Social Welfare Board. This grant is usually provided to households receiving financial assistance from the state.
