Trinidad and Tobago - Apply for Citizenship

- You must obtain and complete three copies of the appropriate application form.
- Form 1, for a Child of a Citizen by descent.
- Form 7, for Registration of Citizenship (Commonwealth citizens).
- Form 8, for a Minor child of a Naturalised or Registered Citizen.
- Form 11, for Naturalisation of Citizenship (non-Commonwealth citizens).
- You can collect application forms at a Trinidad and Tobago overseas mission or at the Ministry of National Security.
- Certain documents must be submitted with the application forms, depending on the grounds upon which the applicant is applying for Citizenship.
- All three copies of the application form should be completed in accordance with the included instructions and returned, together with all required documentation, to Ministry of National Security or to any Trinidad and Tobago overseas mission. Application forms cannot be dated more than 12 months before the submittal date.

Please note that any document in a foreign language must be translated into the English Language by an authorised organisation. A list of authorised organisations can be obtained using the link below.
Required documentation for Adult applicants (Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth citizens):
- Four identical passport-sized photos of the applicant taken within six months of submission of application.
- Trinidad and Tobago National Identification Card (original and one copy).
- Birth Certificate and supporting Affidavit, if necessary, of the applicant (original and one copy).
- Marriage Certificate/Death Certificate of spouse and divorce papers, if applicable, of the applicant (original and one copy).
- Resident Certificate of the applicant (original and one copy).
- Police Certificate of Character from Trinidad and Tobago obtained within the last six months of submission of application.
- Job letter or evidence of registration of company and letter indicating nature of employment and income.
- Financial statements reflecting any investment accounts, bank accounts or credit union accounts dated not more than two weeks before date of application.
- Tax Clearance Certificate B or C. Please follow the link below for more information on Tax Clearance Certificates.
- A photocopy of each utilised page of an old Passport and valid foreign Passport.
- Medical Certificates and X-Ray reports from any registered Medical Practitioner.
Required documentation for applicants under the age of 18 years:
- Three identical passport-sized photos of the applicant taken within six months of submission of application.
- Birth Certificate and supporting Affidavit, if necessary, of the applicant (original and one copy).
- Evidence of parent's citizenship of Trinidad and Tobago in the form of a Birth Certificate and Passport (original and one copy).
- A photocopy of each utilised page of a valid foreign Passport.
- Medical Certificates and X-Ray reports from any registered Medical Practitioner.

EligibilityEdit
A foreign national who falls into any of the categories below is eligible to apply for Trinidad and Tobago Citizenship.
- If you are a Commonwealth citizen, you must have had Resident Status and be residing in Trinidad and Tobago for at least five years before the date of application.
- If you are a non-Commonwealth citizen, you must have had Resident Status and be residing in Trinidad and Tobago for at least eight years before the date of application.
- For children under the age of 18, the responsible parent must be a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.
FeesEdit
Application forms can be purchased from the Ministry of National Security at a cost of TT$0.87 per set of three.
The following fees are payable for applications for Citizenship:
- TT$940.00 for registration of a Commonwealth citizen as a Trinidad and Tobago citizen.
- TT$1040.00 for naturalisation of a non-Commonwealth citizen as a Trinidad and Tobago citizen.
- TT$340.00 for registration of a minor as a Trinidad and Tobago citizen.
