Here's how you can apply for a Thai Identification (Pink ID) Card for Foreigners.
- Apply for the ID by going to your local Provincial Registrars and if you are in Bangkok to the Registrars Office.
- Make sure that you have all required documents with you when you apply. If possible bring extra documents that may support your application. Documents that can prove your identity, your address and the reason why you are staying in Thailand in case an amphur request for additional documents to be presented. Example: Translation of your documents etc.
- As stated in the regulation regarding the issuance of Pink Cards, applicants will need to present a witness when applying. The witness will be asked to present his Thai ID Card.
- The registrar will verify all the documents and information you have provided.
- The office will take a picture of you and collect your fingerprints.
- You can pick up your card on the same you have filed your request. Or in case your documents needs further verification, you may be asked to come back in a few days to collect your ID.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The card is an official ID issued by the Government of Thailand, that bears your name in Thai and your Thai ID number. It will also fix the spelling of your Thai name. You may present your ID card when you apply for service and procedures like opening a bank account etc.

In Thailand people use mainly two types of identification cards. A Thai card that shows the card holder's name, picture, address and 13 digits ID numbers. This card is blue on color. Another identification is a Ta bian ban, which is a blue house book, that will certify the holder's official address.
Aliens or foreigners are issued Thai Identification (Pink ID) Card. Possessing a pink card does not give you the same rights as a Thai national or makes you a Thai national.
The Civil Registration Act defined a person who is not a Thai national:
- Alien who are permitted to reside in the Kingdom under the Immigration Act and have a permanent residence or certificate under the Immigration Act or the Alien Registration Act, as the case maybe, and children who born in the Kingdom and have not been granted a Thai nationality by birth under the law of nationality.
- Aliens who have been granted an indulgent to reside in the Kingdom are special cases of the Minister of Interior under the Immigration Act, and children who born in the Kingdom and have not been granted a Thai nationality by birth under the law of nationality.
- Aliens who are temporarily admitted to the Kingdom under the Immigration Act, and children who born in the Kingdom and have not been granted a Thai nationality by birth under the law of nationality.
- Aliens who enter the Kingdom without permission under the Immigration Act, and children who born in the Kingdom and have not been granted a Thai nationality by birth under the law of nationality.
