Thailand - Apply for Food License

- To apply for a food license to set up a restaurant business in Thailand you will need to submit an application to your local Public Health Office.
- Under 'Required Documents' section you can see documents you will need to submit when you apply for a license. Make sure that you have everything before file your application to avoid any delays in the processing of you license.
- Submit all the required documents and pay the application fee.
- An appointment with the public health inspectors will be arranged. They will take a look at the restaurant and interview restaurant staff about the food making process.
- Restaurant staffs will also be asked to complete a test at the district office (50 multiple choice questions, 80% of which must be answered correctly). Questions will mainly focus on hygiene. The inspectors will provide each employee with a small book which they can study.
- You will need to wait around 1 to 2 months for your application to be processed.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Company affidavit, not older than six months
- House Registration of the building
- Consent letter (original) or copy of the lease agreement (affixed with a duty stamp)
- Copy of the Identification card and house registration of the director of the company
- Copy of the ID card and house registration of the owner of the business
- Power of Attorney
- Completed and signed application form
- Location map
- Photos (print out) in front of and inside the restaurant
- Layout of the restaurant (interior plan)
- Total area of restaurant(incl. tables, kitchen, counter etc.)
- Documents proving the ownership (documents to be presented varies, case to case basis), such as the sale and purchase agreement, title deed (all pages) or construction permit

FeesEdit
The amount of the license differs depending on the size of the restaurant.
- Up to 10 square meters: 100 THB
- If more than 10 square meters: add 5 THB per square meter
- Between 200 and 300 square meters: 2,000 THB
- More than 300 square meters: add 5 THB per square meter
- Government fee is limited to 3,000 THB

The license is valid for one calendar year (valid until December 31).
